Handling
Problem Staff – what the law says
This session aims to take delegates through the basic employment
law requirements of handling a range of typical staffing problems
including absenteeism, incapability and disciplinary problems.
The session covers the main requirements of the Disputes Resolution
Regulations.

Regulations for Resolving Disputes
This session specifically looks at the requirements of the Dispute
Resolution Procedures introduced on 1 October 2004. It covers
the 3-step process which employers have to follow if they are
contemplating terminating an employee’s contract and the
steps employee’s have to take if they have a grievance against
their employer.

at work
This session is designed for employers who need to understand
what they can do to avoid problems of stress at work and the possibility
of claims against them. The session looks at the legal requirements,
the advice given by the Health and Safety Executive and the practical
steps employers can put in place to avoid problems.

Having a basic understanding of the key
requirements will help you distinguish between ‘law’
and ‘lore.’ This session covers employment contracts
and changing these, dismissals, entitlements to time off, and
discrimination law. Delegates can also take advantage of a very
useful and extensive ‘Question & Answer’ session.

This course works best as a one or two day event and is designed
for first time supervisors or those with little formal supervisory
training. Delegates will have a better understanding of the their
role and will have practiced a number of basic supervisory skills
including problem solving, time management techniques, listening
skills, giving and receiving feedback, running a meeting effectively
and effective questioning.
